BIOT Conservation at Southampton

CHAGOS MARINE PROTECTED AREA
A workshop on detailed scientific issues related to BIOT conservation, and in particular marine protection, was held in Southampton on 5-6 August.
It was organised by the National Oceanography Centre which draws together the expertise of UK marine scientists. Participants report that the workshop, drawing on excellent preliminary geological, biological and other work, was a valuable development in the process launched at the Royal Society in November. It highlighted the scientific importance of the Chagos for issues such as atmospheric CO2 levels, ocean carbonate levels, fish populations, sea level rise and other issues related to degradation and climate change.’  SEE Documents page for full pdf Report on Southampton Workshop.
